demand 具有坚决的意义。当主体是人时，通常表示这人有权提出这种命令式的要求；当主语是事物时，则表示“要求”是必需的，迫切需要的。
例句：This work demands your patience.
require常与demand通用，但语气较弱，往往出至于内在的东西所必须或法律、规章制度的要求。
例句：Most plants require sunlight.
